Who is Exeter’s manager?

Matt Taylor was born on 30 January 1982 in Chorley, England. He is the current manager of Exeter City after being appointed by the club in June 2018 after replacing previous manager Paul Tisdale. In the past, Taylor was a professional footballer playing as a goalkeeper and a centre back for clubs such as Everton, Bradford City and Newport County.

Between the years of 1999 and 2005, Taylor played as a goalkeeper for clubs such as Everton, Burscough, Rossendale United, Matlock Town, Hucknall Town and Halifax Town. He struggled to impress in this position before being converted to a centre back and won a move to Exeter City. At the club, he won the conference playoff final 1-0 and made 160 competitive appearances scoring 17 goals before moving on to Charlton Athletic in 2011.

He made 53 appearances for Charlton Athletic over the course of 2 seasons before joining Bradford City. He struggled to impress at Bradford as he spent the majority of his time out on loan at Colchester United. He then went on to play for Cheltenham Town and Newport County where he failed to impress at either club although was made Cheltenham Town captain during his stay at the club. In February 2016, Taylor was appointed player-coach of Bath City but only managed one season in the job.

In June 2018, Taylor was appointed Exeter City manager after taking over from Paul Tisdale. In Taylor’s opening season at the club, he managed to guide the club to a 9th place finish in the EFL League Two. He also took the club to two second round appearances in both the EFL Cup and EFL Trophy but he could only manage to make the first round of the FA Cup.
