Who is Harrogate Town's manager?

Simon Daniel Weaver was born on the 20th of December, 1977 in Doncaster, England and is the current manager of Harrogate Town AFC. Before going into management, Weaver played professional football as a defender for English clubs such as York City, Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday and Lincoln City.

Simon Weaver started playing football at Sheffield Wednesday in 1996 where he failed to make a competitive appearance for the club. He had a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers in 1997, however, only made 2 appearances before returning to his parent club. 1 year later, Weaver signed for Ilkeston Town for a season and then joined Nuneaton Borough the following year. He made 63 competitive appearances for Nuneaton Borough which ended up being one of his longest stints at a club.

In 2002, Weaver returned to the English Football League following his previous manager Keith Alexander at Lincoln City. After making 88 appearances for the club and 1 loan spell at Macclesfield Town, Simon Weaver moved on to Kidderminster Harriers in the summer of 2004. He then made appearances for Scarborough, York City, Tamworth, Boston United, King's Lynn, Redditch United  and a return to Ilkeston Town before joining Harrogate Town in 2009 as a player manager.

In 2012, Simon Weaver became the full time manager of Harrogate Town AFC following his retirement from professional football as his father became the chairman. He took the club from the sixth tier of English football to one of the top teams in the National League. In the 2019/20 season, Harrogate Town finished second in the National League and gained promotion to the 2020/21 EFL League Two via the playoffs.
