Rotherham United and Paul Warne

Rotherham United Football Club, also known as The Millers is a professional association football club based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The club was founded 27 May 1925. When it was founded in 1925 it was a merger between Rotherham Town (1899) and Rotherham County (1870). The home matches of the club are played in the New York Stadium, which has a 12,021 capacity. The club's colors were initially yellow and black but later changed into the more traditional red and white. The club joined the Football League after forming in 1925. Rotherham had to spend the first 25 years of their time in Division Three North which is the lowest level of the Football League. They finally earned promotion to Division Two in the 1950/51 season.

Rotherham played in the EFL League one last season, where they finished 4th. They sat on the table with 79 points in 46 games. That was enough to earn them a play-off spot for the promotion to the Championship. The Millers beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 in the final to confirm their promotion.

Rotherham United was in the bottom of the table in the 2016/17 season. Paul Warne was appointed as the Rotherham United manager on January 2017 for the remainder of the season. But on April, Rotherham's relegation from the Championship was confirmed and Warne was appointed as the permanent manager of the club on a one-year rolling contract. In the 2017/18 season, Paul Warne was one of the main reasons behind Rotherham United’s success. He said after the promotion that, he kept questioning himself constantly as a manager. But his success in his first full season shows what kind of a manager he will be.

Paul Warne was a professional football player before joining as a manager. He started his career at Wigan Athletic where he played for two seasons. Then he moved to Rotherham where he played over 250 games in all competitions in a spell of seven years. Then he moved to Oldham where he became a fans favorite in the two seasons he played there. He helped the club to the League One play-offs in the 2006/2007 season, but eventually, he moved on a free transfer to Yeovil. In his time there, he struggled to get goals regularly. In 2009, after failing to agree on a new deal with Yeovil, he moved back to his former club Rotherham. In his second spell at the club, he didn't feature regularly in every match. He retired as a player at Rotherham after the 2011/12 season.

Paul Warne joined the club he retired at to start his managerial career. And so far, he has been doing a fantastic job. He will have to go through a big challenge as he will manage Rotherham in the Championship in the upcoming season.
